This exhibition presents the extensive oeuvre of Eero Järnefelt (1863–1937), who grew up in a cultured, cosmopolitan family, and it explores the artist’s significance for Finnish art and Finnishness. Järnefelt’s varied nature depictions raise the question of whether the natural environments captured by the artist in the 19th and 20th centuries still exist.

The exhibition explores humans’ journey to water from the seventeenth century until the present day. It consists of paintings, sculptures, graphic art and contemporary art executed in a range of methods. The exhibition portrays water through art and natural science.

Feels Like Home exhibition reflects on the theme of home and belonging through contemporary art. Belonging is linked to identity – to who we are and where we come from. The featured artworks show that home can be a physical place, a community, or a state of mind. Home can also be found in a language or culture.
