A Building is not a Building

The Berlin-based Finnish artist Ola Kolehmainen (*1964 ) composes his photographs according to strict principles of order, showing rows of repetitive basic patterns or symmetrical constructs.

Generally featuring sections of facades, the Minimalist austerity of these images is occasionally broken by elements, such as trees or other buildings mirrored in the facades, that circumvent this formalism. Kolehmainen`s work are produced using the Diasec process, which means that the environment is reflected on the surface of the photos as well as in the images themselves -a calculated component of his work.
