Minna Toivonen shares the story behind the jewelry:
"I had been thinking about how I could support Ukrainians, especially small Ukrainian artisans who are now working under exceptional conditions and facing many challenges. After searching, I discovered these charming handcrafted flowers made from Italian glass by local artisans in Ukraine.
When placing the order, I knew there was a chance the glass roses might never arrive. However, I was happy to support Ukrainian craftsmanship regardless, as the payment was made in advance. I placed my first order in early June and had almost lost hope of receiving them, but two months later, the package miraculously arrived—and the glass flowers were breathtakingly beautiful! Since then, I have placed more orders, which has greatly delighted the artisans."
The delicate flower earrings, made from Italian glass, are handcrafted in Ukraine. Each flower is one of a kind, with slight variations in shape and color. The earrings are lightweight and elegantly complement both casual and formal outfits.
Modo Mio jewelry was born out of a fascination with the atmosphere of bygone eras and the art of craftsmanship. The creator, Minna Toivonen, who lives and works in Ullanlinna, Helsinki, spent years working at an art gallery in Florence, Italy, and later in the cultural department of the Italian Embassy in Finland.
Handcrafting and a deep interest in art history have always been a part of her life. She has honed her skills through courses and hands-on experience. Minna Toivonen has been working as a full-time jewelry maker for several years.
